Last night, Rabbit Bandini along with New Films International welcomed guests to a special friends and family screening in Beverly Hills at The Fine Arts Theater. Guests gathered in the theater lobby and mingled as each took turns on the carpet. James Franco, Ahna O’Reilly, Jacob Leob, Janet Jones, Joey King, Loretta Devine and Scott Haze from the film were present. James greeted each of his actors as they came off the carpet, as many hadn’t seen each other in over a year and a half.
The Sound and the Fury is Franco’s second directorial feature based on a Faulkner tale. Set in Mississippi at the turn of the 20th century, The Sound and the Fury portrays the decline and fall of the Compsons, a once proud, aristocratic Southern family. Translating William Faulkner’s famously challenging experimental prose into the language of cinema, The Sound and the Fury reveals the secrets and betrayals that have tarnished the family name and continue to haunt the Compson children.
After the screening, James was joined by his cast on stage for the Q&A. The film was met with uproarious applause and a standing ovation.
